5910, rue Barré St-Hyacinthe Québec Canada J2R 1E4Founded in 1980 by Irish biochemist and entrepreneur Dr. Pearse Lyons, Alltech is a leading global biotechnology company whose mission is to improve the health and performance of people, animals and plants through natural nutrition and scientific innovation. We pursue this mission guided by what we call the ACE principle, our promise that in doing business we have a positive impact on the Animal, the Consumer and the Environment. Animal Health Our core business improves animal health and performance by adding nutritional value to feed, naturally, through Alltech’s innovative use of yeast fermentation, enzyme technology, algae and nutrigenomics, which studies the impact of nutrition at the genetic level. Our technologies and support programs enable farmers to realize greater efficiency, profitability and sustainability on their farms. Alltech Crop Science Our Alltech Crop Science division complements our animal nutrition business by focusing on improving the health of crops. Our technologies enable us to improve the productivity of the field, in terms of yield quality and quantity, and to enhance nutrition beginning with the soil and the seed. Human Health We believe scientific innovation in animal and crop sciences is part of a much more important story, that of human health. Healthier animals and crops, nurtured naturally through Alltech’s nutritional solutions, affect human well-being. For example, fruits, vegetables and animal proteins have become less nutrient-rich in the past half-century. From fish to oranges, you need to eat more today to get the same nutritional value. Our work within animal and crop sciences is restoring value and also exploring ways to naturally enrich foods through improving the animal diet or crop produced. For example, laying hens fed a diet rich in Alltech’s algae produce eggs enriched with DHA omega-3, an essential nutrient for human cognitive development and health at all ages.

Our BRET-based bioSensAllTM biosensor technology allows for detailed and broad-spectrum signaling profiling of GPCRs, RTKs and their ligands, while leaving these receptors untagged. This technology revolves primarily around the real-time monitoring of receptor proximal events immediately linked to the transmembrane receptor activity, namely heterotrimeric G protein activation and β-arrestin coupling for the GPCRs, and SH2-domain proteins for the RTKs. The GPCR assay brings the unique capacity to quantify the engagement of 14 distinct heterotrimeric G protein subtypes as well as both non-visual β-arrestin isoforms. The RTK assay gives the possibility to follow the recruitment of various SH2-domain proteins and study the complete trafficking of these receptors. Both assays provide a complete and detailed fingerprint of any GPCR / RTK ligand and allow to study the impact of receptor mutations on their signaling. This data is particularly valuable in a screen / early drug development program to select and optimally design your lead compound. Domain Therapeutics applies a multi-string corporate strategy to grow its business through: validation of its technologies through collaborative partnerships with Pharma/Biotechs, generation of an internal pipeline of 1st in class drug candidates for high unmet needs in CNS and oncology, valuation of its preclinical assets through spin-out vehicles, financed by leading investment funds or supported by development-only companies.

7220 Rue Frederick Banting Montréal, QC, H4S 2A1 CanadaIn 2007, two inventive Canadian scientists, Dr. Margaret Bywater–Ekegärd and Ananda Lynn Fitzsimmons, formed Inocucor™ Technologies to study new ways to solve the problems facing agriculture through a holistic lens. They reasoned that biological systems, which are by nature comprised of thousands of diverse microorganisms, could be made more productive through the addition of multiple fungi, yeasts and bacteria that work in harmony to create quality plants and soils. Depleted soils could be revitalized, resulting in hardy, more productive plants. The long-term quality of the entire phyto-microbiome—the seed, the plant, the soil and the micro-environment directly surrounding the plant—would improve, leading to increased agricultural yields. Their research efforts led them to Inocucor’s first-generation product, Garden Solution™, which employs live microbes to actively improve the quality of the entire phyto-microbiome. Garden Solution has been produced since 2010 at Inocucor’s pilot facility in Frelighsburg, near Montreal, Quebec. The company anticipates relocating its manufacture of Garden Solution to a new facility as part of its optimization and scale-up program in the future. Inocucor’s new R&D and cGMP production laboratories in Technoparc Montreal will be used for the pilot production of its second- and third-generation products for bio-stimualtion and bio-protection. Inocucor’s second- and third-generation products are microbial cell-free biological solutions, rather than live microbial-based solutions. As they are developed over the next two to three years, they promise to offer powerful solutions for bio-stimulation and bio-protection to mainstream production farmers.
900 St-Denis Street 10th floor Montreal, Québec, H2X 0A9 CanadaThe Institut du cancer de Montréal (Institut) was the first francophone cancer research institute in North America. The Institut was founded in 1947 by the pathologist Louis-Charles Simard and his fellow gastroenterologist Antonio Cantero. These two doctors from the Hôpital Notre-Dame formed a collaboration in order to better understand a disease they had been diagnosing with increasing frequency: cancer. Although the Institut is independent, it originally operated out of the Hôpital Notre-Dame, benefiting from a modern hospital environment. Several years later, in order to better serve its mission of educating young researchers, the Institut joined the Université de Montréal. In the following decades, the Institut continued to refine its missions. The researchers of the Institut went on to attain international attention under the banner of “The Montreal Group” when the prestigious journal Cancer Research dedicated its editorial to the teams work. This recognition consolidated and rewarded the team’s effort and encouraged the Institut to continue its training program.

3801 University Street Montrea, Quebec, H3A 2B4 CanadaIn 1981, the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital – The Neuro, became the first medical institution in Canada to be equipped with its own isotope production facility: THE CYCLOTRON. The move to include such a facility within its walls was somewhat revolutionary at the time. By producing its own radioactive tracers used for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging, The Neuro enabled researchers to uncover the mysteries of how the brain works and clinicians to increase the speed and accuracy of patients’ diagnosis and treatments. Today, medical cyclotrons are found in cities across the country and isotopes are used around the world for research, and cancer diagnosis and treatment. The cyclotron operates under guidelines set out by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and as per CNSC regulations we are informing the public that The Neuro is equipped with a cyclotron facility.

3801 University Street, Room E2.89 (RVH) Montreal, Quebec Canada , H3A 2B4 CanadaSurgical simulation with haptic feedback and visual and tactile reality is an emerging field that has the potential to revolutionize research and training in all surgical specialities because of its ability to develop metrics which can assess, quantify and train technical skills, lessen human error and therefore improve patient outcomes. Assessment is an essential element in the evaluation of psychomotor skills during surgical training. Proficiency-based training and assessment implies that the trainee has to achieve a set of predefined criteria during their training to move to the next level in a safe and controlled learning environment. While proficiency-based training is practiced in many disciplines, for neurosurgery and other surgical specialties technical skills learning is linked to chronology; e.g. skills learned during the specific period of time spent in a residency program and in the operating room (6-7 years) in a novice/expert apprenticeship model. Proficiency-based training ensures that specific criteria have been met while chronological-based training does not guarantee that a resident has achieved a degree of skill commiserate with competency in the surgical care of patients.

47 Basile-Daigneault St-Basile-le-Grand, QC, J3N1S3 CanadaMultiplexed sandwich immunoassays is a powerful technique to measure multiple protein concentrations simultaneously. However, despite a great excitement, its success was hampered by the cross-reaction among the antibodies. Parallex BioAssays eliminated the “detection soup” and offers a new approach to deliver the detection antibodies precisely to their cognate spots. As a result, a cross-reaction free chip harboring an assembly of parallelized assays, physically isolated from each others. It’s more than a simple multiplex, it’s multiple singleplex! Advantages of the SnapChip: Rapid Assay Development – All assays are optimized individually. That’s it! Mix and Match – All your preferred assays on the same chip. No limitation! Accurate Results – Elimination of cross-reactivity and false positives! New Opportunities – Measurement of concentration, post-translational modifications and enzyme activity… All at once!

1320 Graham, suite 110 , Quebec CanadaThis year alone in Quebec, 4,600 men will learn that they have prostate cancer, and about 880 of them will die. Despite advances in research and the discovery of some risk factors, including age, race, family history and probably lifestyle, it remains unclear which one of these factors is most prevalent. Prostate cancer affects one in seven men. We also cannot explain why this disease is so aggressive, or how it develops. It can be said that the situation with regard to prostate cancer is similar to that of breast cancer in women. The causes of prostate cancer remain unknown. While the lack of adequate tools and equipment slows progress, hopes are raised by some spectacular advances in the field of biotechnology. The discovery of the human genome is a huge step forward. Dramatic developments are expected in the understanding of basic biological processes, opening up completely new horizons, especially in oncology. However, such prospects, at least for prostate cancer, will not be fruitful without prospective research being conducted according to standardized procedures on large numbers of men who are at risk or already affected by this disease. In 2005 PROCURE, the only Quebec-based non-profit organization wholly dedicated to combatting prostate cancer, decided it was time to act and adopted a very ambitious research tool: the PROCURE Biobank for prostate cancer in Quebec. Quebec is a perfect place to implement such a project because of the genetic traits of its native population and its ethnic diversity. In addition, the relative stability of Quebec’s population means that the project participants can be monitored over a long period. Finally, our province’s long tradition of collaboration and excellence in research guarantees our ability to establish and run a world class biobank.

2000 Peel St., Suite 570 Montreal, Quebec H3A 2W5Synchrogenix partners with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to develop submission documents for global regulatory agencies. Since 1986, our core competency at Synchrogenix has been regulatory writing for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Focusing on this crucial aspect of the drug development process has allowed us to hone our unique methodology and build a team of regulatory writers who are experts and thought leaders in the field. Rather than vertically specializing in a functional area, as a CRO, CMO, or contract lab might, Synchrogenix horizontally bridges all functional areas within drug development. Our strength is integrating with key stakeholders to create submission documents that are comprehensive, concise, and clear, as well as consistent within and across the entire submission. Synchrogenix breaks through silos, uniting many single elements into one story…your story. Synchrogenix is a leader in the regulatory writing field with a singular focus of authoring and editing regulatory documentation. We know that we are only as good as the documents that we produce. Therefore we are dedicated to the following ideals: Nurturing our writers and editors to increase their knowledge of drug and biological development, and to ensure they are comfortably challenged in their careers. Remaining immersed in global pharmaceutical, biotech, device, and diagnostics regulatory documentation requirements, to understand and anticipate our clients’ needs. Ensuring that we utilize technologies and safety systems that offer the level of sophistication that is vital to our clients. By merging our cross-functional expertise with our writing experience, we deliver documents that not only support clients’ strategic messaging, but also enhance their marketability. We provide many of the benefits of in-house writers—including the experience and perspective of industry insiders—without increased overhead or struggles with fluctuating workloads.

The Contract Research Map is owned and maintained by Scientist.com. It was created to help researchers in the life sciences identify and connect with contract research organizations (CROs) based on geography. Updated nightly, this map features all of the available CROs within our network, so you can order services with a few clicks. Click on a specific country, scroll on the map itself or type into the search bar at the top—there are many ways to find the location and suppliers that you’re looking for. From Argentina to New Zealand, use this map to connect with a CRO near you.
We believe that every researcher across the world should be able to connect with the thousands of global CROs that exist and have the opportunity to work together. Like many industries, the life science supply chain has been disrupted over the last year. But there are many other circumstances such as international customs regulations or sensitive shipping times that create limitations around which countries are feasible to partner with. Sometimes, finding a CRO based in a country that best suits your research needs is imperative. We hope this contract research map allows you to find the right partner in the right place at the right time.
Have questions or feedback? We’d love to help. You can find our FAQs and contact information on the Learn more page.
